The OAMP has written a letter commenting on and responding to Bill 160, an Act to Amend, Repeal and Enact Various Acts in the Interest of Strengthening Quality and Accountability for Patients.
In particular, Bill 160 may replace the aging HARP Act, which is an issue that can impact how Ontario Medical Physicists practice, and how Energy Applying and Detecting Medical Devices (EADMDs) are regulated in the Province.
We have submitted our letter to the clerk and the chair of the legislative committee for Bill 160 on November 22, 2017.
Thanks to all members of the OAMP working group who contributed to the discussions and writing (and re-writing)!
This is the Working Group for our response to Bill 160:
- Jeff Frimeth (President & Chief Medical Physicist at JF Medical Physics Inc.)
- Ting Lee (Scientist, Robarts Research)
- Nick Shkumat (Diagnostic Medical Physicist at Sick Kids)
- Glenn Wells (Medical Physicist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute)
- Ivan Yeung (Head of Medical Physics, Southlake Regional Health Centre)
Special thanks also go out to Nick Shkumat and Ivan Yeung who attended the legislative committee.
